School of Choice

February is School of Choice Month throughout the Simi Valley Unified School District. Parents of students residing outside Simi Valley High School's boundaries or currently attending another high school must complete the online School of Choice application if the student would like to attend Simi Valley High School for the 2023-2024 school year. The application form will be linked at the district's Enrollment and School of Choice webpage. The deadline to submit the application for the 2022-2023 school year is the end of February. Applications received after the deadline are put on a waiting list, though there is usually no problem processing requests to enroll before the opening of the school year (August 10, 2023).

Group school tours are available on the following dates in January and February:

January 18, 19, 24, 26, 30

February 9, 15, 21, 23, 27

If a group tour is not a suitable option for you and your student, private tours can be arranged with Principal Baxter by contacting Office Manager Michelle Cunningham by email at michelle.cunningham@simivalleyusd.org or by phone at 805-577-1400, ext. 6706.

Prospective Pioneer families will want to attend our Open House and Student Showcase, which will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 beginning at 6pm. This event will give parents and students information about our superior academics programs, athletics programs, our clubs, other extracurricular activities, and more.

If you have any questions about the School of Choice application process, please contact Registrar Beth Hankins beth.hankins@simivalleyusd.org or (805) 577-1400, Extension 6725.

Interdistrict Transfers Into SVUSD

Parents of students who reside outside of SVUSD boundaries who wish to attend Simi Valley High School or another SVUSD school will need to complete an Interdistrict Transfer Agreement. This form must be obtained from and submitted to your local school district for approval to leave your district (release). After you have been released from your district, submit the signed agreement to SVUSD's Educational Services department at the District Office, 101 West Cochran Street, Simi Valley, CA.

The Ventura County school districts agree that once the releasing districts sign the agreement for a particular pupil, the releasing district will not  require families to obtain a new Interdistrict Transfer Agreement for that pupil for the subsequent 4 school years. By signing the agreement in Year 1, the district of residence intends to release the student from attendance in that district for 5 school years.

For further information on Interdistrict Transfers, please contact the Educational Services department at our district office (805) 306-4500.
